Who wouldn’t, especially when thinking about something as big as a building project? Our questions range from “When can we break ground?” to “How is it even possible?”, and our questions need to be asked. The Steering Committee has prayerfully considered thequestions that follow, and hopefully these answer some of your questions, too.
BIG stands for Build the vision, Invest in people, and Grow the kingdom of God. We will seek to build the vision within the church corporately and individually. Second, we want to invest not just in facilities, but in people, first. The result, then, of building the vision and investing in people is the expansion of God's kingdom. While this does not mean that every person will become a member of CBC, it is our prayer that the church will grow as a result, which will require additional space. In order to do any of this, we will need to trust BIG. Without trusting God, these things are not possible. Together we can accomplish this BIG goal.
In 1997, we outgrew the facilities in the Chapel and moved into the Worship Center while we decided how to build. Over time, we have grown to 226 people, requiring us to move to two services. This means that we are currently doing two services in what was never intended to be our permanent worship center. While we celebrate the growth God has brought to us, we also recognize the need for additional space for both worship and ministry. Our priorities are needs for children, youth and worship space.
We aim to raise $800,000 in the next 3 years from the Trust BIG campaign.
Based on survey results and input from our Generis campaign consultant, we believe our campaign target is $800,000.
The current building plan as designed would take $2.7 million. We recognize that there is a gap between what we are seeking to raise and what the actual need is to move forward with our present design. It is our plan to move forward with the capital campaign, see how God leads and directs each person to give, and then reevaluate where we are and how best to move forward as a church. Regardless it will take assuming a loan or adjusting our building plans.
Based on guidance to not take on debt in excess of 2.5X annual budget, we believe our maximum loan is $1M.
We have approximately $160,000 currently in the building fund.

If things go as we anticipate, and we successfully raise $800K (cash and pledges), we will request an updated design to accommodate a total project size of $2M. If we exceed the $800K target, perhaps we can stay with “Plan A”. If we do have to re-design with a lower project size, we will make sure the 3 priorities are worship space, children and youth.
We will set a date after we have a chance to evaluate where we are with the building fund after the pledges are made.
No. Our first priority is supporting CBC and its current ministries with our tithes. Trust BIG is asking for over and above gifting which will look different for each person. It may be taking another step toward tithing, or finding a way to prioritize our personal expenses so we can participate in the growth of God’s kingdom.
First of all, we ask you to take time to pray. We would like to surround all decision making, contributing, and serving with the power of prayer. Secondly, we’d like for you to spur each other on and share your positive feedback with those working in different capacities. Third, we ask that you prayerfully ask God what He wants to do through you in making a sacrificial gift to the campaign.
Getting involved can mean so much more! We also encourage you to participate by attending the adult Sunday School class, encouraging youth and getting involved through our various ministries already in place.
You will be given a card on which you indicate your commitment. The cards will be kept confidential (just like your tithes) and will be collected at a few key times during the campaign. The church treasurer can track your progress and provide each person with regular updates.
No. A statement will be available and sent to you periodically so you can track your progress over the 3 year campaign.
As circumstances change unexpectedly, commitments can definitely be adjusted. However, your commitment should be based on the Lord’s leading and express your genuine desire to build His kingdom in this way. In your commitment, you demonstrate faith that He will provide for your needs.
Each family and individual should give what God puts in their heart to cheerfully give. The dollar amount is not as important as the heart commitment. God expects (and we need) people to give sacrificially to advance His kingdom here at the CBC. In the end though, the amount is what God leads each person to give.
